BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Cross country teams from Bronson and Union City took part in the 47th Annual Harper Creek Optimist Invitational Tuesday afternoon on the grounds of Harper Creek High School.
In the girls race, the Vikings finished fourth with 101 points. They were led by Alonna Goodsell’s ninth place finish. Miriam Sanchez was 16th, Piper Grigsby finished 26th, Adelynn Cosby came in 39th, and Camila Albarran was 45th. The Chargers did not have enough runners for a team score; Allison Gautsche was 23rd, Parker Williams 25th, Jasreman Kaur 37th, and Carly Smith 42nd.
The boys race saw Union City take fifth place with 123 points. Cullen Decker finished fourth, Noah June was 33rd, Luke McCown came in 35th, Jack Dibert was 51st, and Luke Arlt finished 52nd. Bronson did not have enough runners for a team score; Brayton Cosby was eighth, Adam Franks 12th, Rylan Fincham 29th, and Jack Ganton 38th.
In the middle school girls race, the Chargers finished second, while the Vikings were third. Neither school recorded a team score in the middle school boys race.

The Chargers will run at MSU’s Spartan Invitational on Friday, while Bronson will take part in the Lakeview Invitational on Saturday.
