BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council approved the city’s financial portion of the Bronson Area Fire Association’s plan to buy a new fire truck worth over $1-point-3 million on Monday night.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says the new fire apparatus will combine the capabilities of three existing trucks.
He said in his report for Monday’s meeting, “Participating in this collaborative purchase provides immense value, as
replacing the City-owned engine independently would otherwise cost the City an estimated $1-point-1 to $1-point-2
million.”
The City of Bronson’s cost sharing portion would be just over $151,000.
Mersman says if all participating municipalities pay upfront, an overall discount of $81,900 will be applied, thus reducing the City’s prepayment amount to just under $140,000.
The money will be due upon receipt of the truck but Mersman added some Townships may not be able to pay their share upfront.
