This lag is now triggering sharp, overnight, increases at the pump as local stations rapidly adjust to the reality of $100+ oil which was trading above $104 per barrel , while diesel prices in some hard-hit areas are already nearing $7.00 per gallon.
The sudden surge in fuel costs is directly tied to a series of severe geopolitical disruptions threatening global energy supplies. Recent U.S. strikes on Iranian oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, combined with intense hostilities in the Red Sea, have triggered major maritime safety concerns along critical shipping lanes.
