COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A pair of first half goals each for Abdulhamid Munassar and Ahmed Norman lifted the Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team to a 6-1 home win over Jackson Northwest Tuesday.
Muthana Hajaji also scored in the first half, as the Cardinals carried a 5-1 lead into the halftime break. Ali Ahmed scored the only goal of the second half on a direct kick after a Northwest foul with 10:14 to play in the game.
Munassar also had a first half assist, with two for Maher Semar and one each for Gio Gonzalez and Abdullah Ahmed.
Jensley Norvilus had three saves in goal in the first half, with two for Mackenson Berry in the second half, assisted the Cardinals outshot Northwest 21-6.
Coldwater, ranked ninth in the latest Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division Two poll, is now 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the Interstate 8 Conference. They will play at Harper Creek Thursday. The Beavers are 3-0 so far in league play.
The Cardinals junior varsity team beat Jackson Northwest 3-0.
