COLON, MI (WTVB) – While apples generally are the focus of many fall festivals, Colon has a different approach to celebrate the cooler temperatures and the changing of the seasons.
The 2nd Annual Grilled Cheese Festival is returning to downtown Colon, this Saturday.
It will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. along Swan Street, bringing together local chefs, home cooks, and food enthusiasts.
Organizer Annette Thornton says those who attend will have the opportunity to sample a variety of unique grilled cheese creations and cast votes to crown the top culinary entry.
All proceeds from the festival directly benefit the Five Star Pizza Children’s Adoption Fund that Thornton says has helped nearly 100 families
Beyond the cheesy competition, the family-friendly festival offers a full lineup of autumn activities and comfort food staples. Visitors can pair their sandwich samples with homemade tomato soup from Gerry’s, alongside seasonal treats like cider, donuts, homemade candy, and caramel apples.
Participating chefs registered ahead of the event are competing for cash prizes and the coveted festival trophy.
