MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The BlueOval Battery Park Michigan project is driving a massive economic revitalization across Marshall and the surrounding southwest Michigan region, bringing a surge of jobs, housing, and small business growth.
According to the Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance (MAEDA), the ongoing development at the Marshall Area Jobs, Opportunities, and Recreation (MAJOR) Campus has catalyzed decades-high levels of local investment.
Local small businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and downtown shops are already experiencing increased foot traffic as construction progresses.
To accommodate this regional boom, the housing market has surged, with more than 1,300 new housing units proposed or completed since the project’s 2023 announcement, and hundreds more in the pipeline.
The facility is also delivering a major boost to employment and local government budgets. Ford has already hired more than 500 employees for pre-production and remains on track to create 1,700 total jobs at full capacity.
Once fully operational, the plant will generate an estimated $5 million in annual local property taxes.
The City of Marshall is set to receive more than $2 million annually in new revenue, while Marshall Township’s annual tax haul will skyrocket to over $383,000 a massive leap from the mere $21,000 it collected from the property prior to Ford’s investment.
