COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Requests from Facilities Maintenance Director Mike Plyley to replace some aging equipment were approved on Tuesday by the Branch County Board of Commissioners.
Two quotes totaling just under $29,000 were okayed to replace a 1992 tractor with a pair of 2026 Polaris Ranger 570 SXS vehicles which would include a plow and salt spreader
Commissioners were told the tractor being replaced has become difficult to rely on and replacement parts were becoming challenging to locate.
Another quote of just over $9,800 was approved for the purchase of a new snowplow that would replace a 21-year-old plow. It was felt that given its age and condition, investing additional funds in repairs or maintenance would not be cost-effective.
In other business, the Commissioners made several board appointments. Jean Myers was named to the at large position on the County Planning Commission. The term will expire at the end of 2027. In addition, Austin Nichols was named to fill a vacancy on the Mental Health Board. His term will expire on March 31, 2027. Ed Delisle (dah-LYLE) was also named to the Branch County Building Authority for a partial term which will end at the end 2029.
