COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater is scheduled to begin its annual fall brush collection this coming Monday, October 5.
City Manager Keith Baker announced that city crews will make only a single pass through local neighborhoods, meaning residents must have all materials neatly stacked at the curb by 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning to guarantee collection.
Under city ordinance and state law, open burning is strictly prohibited within city limits.
To participate, residents must follow specific municipal guidelines. Brush needs to be neatly piled with the cut ends facing toward the street, and individual branches cannot exceed eight inches in diameter. Crews will not accept root systems or dirt-clogged stumps, and piles must be kept clear of sidewalks, streets, utility poles, and fire hydrants.
Those who miss the curbside collection deadline can still dispose of their debris for free at the Coldwater Municipal Compost Site located at 45 Industrial Ave. Weekly collection of bagged yard waste will also continue on Mondays until the first snowfall of the season.
