COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After receiving approval from the Coldwater Planning Commission back in May, it was hoped by many that the new Chic-fil-a in Coldwater would be open by late fall or early winter.
Delays in the process have now pushed back the opening to late spring or early summer 2027, Planning Director Robert Hawley said during last nights planning Commission meeting there has been progress recently
He says the plan now is to begin demolishing the former Rite Aid building at the southwest corner of U.S. 12 and Michigan Avenue. in the coming months
When completed plans call for the 4,472 square foot building will have 72 seats inside and 16 more outside.
The chain has at least 28 locations in Michigan with plans to double that number by the end of 2028.
Hawley also said he also recently received the plans for the new Duncan Donuts that will be located 515 East Chicago Street that will take over a portion of the former Advance Auto Parts building, occupy roughly one-third of a 6,700 square-foot remodeled structure with a dedicated drive-thru lane along the west side.
That special land use permit was approved by the Planning Commission in July 2026; as of now there is no definite timetable for construction or opening date.
