COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Seven of the nine candidates running for the Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education will participate in a public forum this Sunday evening at 7:00 PM at Lakeland Elementary.
Candidates are scheduled to arrive by 6:45 p.m. for a drawing to determine the order of their one-minute opening statements, which will outline their qualifications and vision for the district.
The event is structured to fit within approximately one hour and will feature a dynamic question-and-answer format.
For prepared questions, names will be drawn so that a designated candidate has one minute to respond, followed by 30-second rapid-fire commentary opportunities for other candidates who raise their hands.
The forum’s discussion points will target critical issues facing the district, including class sizes, the diverse demographics of current schools, and the board’s role in school involvement, passing bonds, and ensuring teachers have access to necessary materials.
To keep the pacing tight, a candidate’s name will not be drawn twice during the question period until others have been selected, though the moderator reserves the right to ask follow-up questions open to all participants.
The evening will conclude with one-minute closing statements delivered in the exact reverse order of the opening presentations.
