COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Kellogg Community College (KCC) Foundation has announced $28,000 in total scholarship awards to 33 student recipients for the 2026-27 academic year.
The funding stems from the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Jon Harpst Promise Scholarship, which was recently renamed to honor a long-time Rotarian who envisioned the program to address the region’s need for skilled tradespeople and healthcare professionals.
To qualify, recipients must reside in or have graduated from a high school in Branch County, with individual awards ranging between $500 and $2,000.
This academic year marks a major milestone as the first year the program will be directly supported by distributions from its Promise Endowment Fund, which surpassed $500,000 in early 2024.
The unique, needs-based scholarship allows students to receive funding over multiple years, primarily supporting nontraditional students.
Michelle Williamson, executive director of the KCC Foundation said “These scholarships represent more than financial assistance; they reflect an investment in the promise and potential of our students.”
Applications for the next academic cycle are scheduled to open on December 1, 2026.
