EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State University’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter has been ordered to immediately cease and desist all operations following an announcement by University President Kevin Guskiewicz.
The university has initiated a formal process to investigate “alleged inappropriate behavior” within the local chapter.
At the university’s request, the national SAE organization issued the directive, effectively halting all chapter activities, including recruitment, social gatherings, and member education.
The sudden suspension follows the circulation of a video posted to the social media platform X, which allegedly depicts fraternity members participating in heavy drinking and illicit drug use.
While university officials noted that the exact timeline of the footage remains unclear, Emily Guerrant, MSU’s Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, says that the video severely compounding the administration’s concern over current behavior within the fraternity.
Representatives from the national fraternity organization have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the ongoing investigation.
