COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Saturday’s Stick it for a Cure cancer fundraiser at Coldwater High School will be different but the purpose remains the same.
The 11th annual gymnastics meet and silent auction that raises awareness and funding for cancer patients and survivors in Branch County is being hosted once again by the Coldwater High School Gymnastics Team.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the ProMedica Coldwater Cancer Center.
Last year, the Stick It For A Cure Silent Auction raised money to buy new recliner chairs for cancer patients to sit in while receiving chemotherapy.
Previously, they were able to purchase warming caps to prevent hair loss, iPads to use while receiving treatments, a sound system to listen to music during treatment, new vital sign machines and mammograms for those who couldn’t afford it.
Because of Covid-19 and social distancing, Gymnastics Team member Katie Kimble says the auction will take place online in the discussion section on the Stick it for a Cure event page on Facebook.
Fellow gymnastics team member Avery Boyce says everybody gets involved.
Complete details on how to bid on items are on the Stick it for a Cure Facebook event page. Bidding ends on Saturday at 12:00 noon.
