COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While there has been progress to fix several heating and cooling issues at the Burnside Senior Center following last years renovation project, possible legal action was discussed during Friday’s Branch County Commissioners meeting.
Council on Aging Executive Director Amy Duff said the biggest issue centers around the transducers which converts energy from one form to another.
County Administrator Bud Norman said there was a response after an official letter from the Commissioners citing the issues that have not been rectified was sent out.
Carrier manufactured the HVAC units while CARMI Design Group out of Edwardsburg provided architectural and construction management services for the project.
Commissioner Don Vrablic said they should stand behind their work and if not, the county should look at their legal options.
The original warranty on the work expires next Saturday which is one year after the renovation project ended.
Norman told Duff to update commissioners during their work session next Friday.
Duff earlier said they have had trouble with the regulation of humidity, temperature and building pressure. It was later discovered that an improperly functioning HVAC system had created such a strong pressure imbalance that the membrane of the flat roof had inflated and was damaged.
