UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – A traffic stop in Union City Monday led to the arrest of a East Leroy man on five charges.
20-year-old Cole Richard Christian was arraigned in Branch County District Court on charges of possession of methamphetamine second offense, carrying a concealed weapon, receiving and concealing a weapon, having no insurance and having improper plates.
Court documents indicate he was stopped by Union City Police for an equipment and plate violations. Police say a subsequent search led to the discovery of 2.45 grams of methamphetamine and a 45 caliber pistol that authorities say was stolen out of Battle Creek.
The pistol was found under the driver’s seat.
Bond has been set at $50,000. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for next Tuesday, while a preliminary exam is set for March 27, 2018.
