COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council tabled a bid Monday for the resurfacing of Treat Avenue this summer.
The action was taken after Councilman Jim Knaack requested warranty information from the bidders. He said he has always requested anytime work is done for the city that a warranty is included in case something fails.
Michigan Paving and Materials Company submitted the lowest of three bids of just under $176,000. With $14,000 figured in for contingencies and testing, the total price of the project will come to $190,000.
The project is being budgeted from the City’s Local Developmental Financing Act funds.
Engineer Sarah Fronczak says part of the resurfacing project will include the replacement of shoulders and driveways.
Drainage will also be renovated to reduce erosion in the right-of-way.
She said the drainage on Treat Avenue right now is “pretty awful”.
Fronczak says the project will be coordinated with area businesses. The project will begin June 4, 2018 with completion on or before August 11, 2018.
