COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker will ask the City Council Monday night to introduce a $1 purchase agreement between the City and Spire Development Management regarding the sale of the Milnes Plaza Parking Lot for the proposed future development of an apartment complex.
A site plan review by the Planning Commission has been scheduled for next Monday.
Final action is scheduled for the City Council meeting March 26. The developers plan to submit an application for financing to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority by April 2, 2018. That funding is one of the several contingencies in the agreement.
The proposed apartment complex in Milnes Plaza has come back up for consideration now that the City Council has adopted an addition to the city zoning ordinance which would allow multi family residential uses within the C-2 Central Business District.
The site plan for “The Lofts at Milnes Plaza” now has 50 units instead of the previous amount of 41.
The proposal calls for 32 two bedroom units, 11 one bedroom units and only seven three bedroom units.
The previous proposal which has been scrapped had 41 apartment units with 34 of them having three bedrooms. The former Taylor’s Stationers building would not be included in the project.
