COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The winter storm that blasted Branch County Friday also caused the cancellation of two major sports related activities at Coldwater High School.
The 2018 Class of the Coldwater High School Athletic Hall of Fame had been scheduled to be inducted Friday night between the girls and boys basketball games against Jackson Northwest. Those games have been postponed until Saturday, February 17. The inductees are Troy Frick (Class of 1985 – football/ basketball/baseball); Gordie Mosher (Class of 1996 – football/track); Ashley Burkhardt (Class of 2012 – volleyball/basketball/softball).
The Hall of Fame ceremony will not be rescheduled until next year.
Quincy High School was also scheduled to hold their Hall of Fame induction ceremony Friday night. That has been postponed until later this month.
The annual Stick It For A Cure gymnastics meet Saturday at Coldwater High School is also the victim of the winter weather. Close to a dozen high school gymnastics teams had been scheduled to compete. A silent auction had also been planned. Since the event began, it has raised almost $50,000 for cancer related programs and services in Branch County. There’s no word yet on whether it will be rescheduled.
