COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Prosecutor’s Office has filed 33 charges against a woman from Bryan, Ohio who is accused of taking money from four local bank accounts belonging to the Girls Scouts of America.
36-year-old Kathy Jo Contreras was arraigned Saturday in Branch County District Court on 11 counts each of forgery, uttering and publishing and identify theft.
A Michigan State Police investigating into her alleged wrong doing started in May and a warrant for her arrest was issued October 17, 2019
Her bond was set at $25,000 during her arraignment. Contreras is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing in District Court on January 2 with a preliminary exam scheduled for January 7, 2020.
According to court documents, Contreras is accused of withdrawing a total of $1,280 from the accounts on 11 occasions without authorization.
