QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – With Butler Township back on board with the Quincy Fire Association, the Quincy Village Council approved the fire department’s annual budget Tuesday night.
Butler Township threatened to leave the Association as they and Algansee Township were upset about the purchase of a fire truck last year after just one bid was received.
But officials for Butler Township and the Association managed to smooth things over and the Township agreed to pay a flat rate of $35,000.
The other entities pay a percentage based on the population of their townships based off the previous census numbers.
Under budget terms for 2020-2021, Algansee Township would pay $57,535, Quincy Township would pay $73,717 while the Village of Quincy would pay $48,545.
The estimated revenues come out to over $216,000. Other sources of revenue include donations, funeral memorials and insurance dividends. Expenditures for the Association are either “fixed” or “variable” which means there is no way to cut certain lines.
