Grace Lucile (Romig) Fry, 98, of East Leroy, died on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Bickford of Battle Creek Assisted Living under the care of Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Leroy Congregational Cemetery, located at 1907 H. Drive South, East Leroy, with Pastor Kevin Barker officiating. At Grace’s wishes, a luncheon will be held afterward at Lighthouse of Athens, 310 S. Capital Avenue, Athens.
Grace was born to Ralph L. and Maggie (Seedorff) Romig in Battle Creek, Michigan on Easter Sunday, April 16, 1922. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1940 and in December of that year married Wilton L. “Bill” Fry. At the time of his death on January 25,1998, they had been married 57 years. Grace was employed for two years at Kellogg Co., but quit to become a full-time mother to their only child, Larry L. Fry, who died tragically April 3, 2015 in his house fire.
Grace was a longtime member of Leroy Congregational Church, a lifetime member of Sherwood Forrest Chapter #223 O.E.S. and she belonged to AARP. She enjoyed reading, her home, friends and traveling, which included 45 U.S. states and Canada, along with Europe and England, to name a few places.
She is survived by a sister, Marian Rolf of Vancouver, WA; cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by a half-sister, Merlah Spooner Green. Grace was fortunate to have had a wonderful church family, neighbors and special friends, Rob and Lynette Hoskins, Randy and Karen Lang, Evelyn Chapman and Margaret Burk.
