COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Construction crews in Coldwater Friday began prepping the areas of Pillsbury Avenue, Michael Drive, and Thompson Boulevard for the extension project in the area. Work to extend Thompson Boulevard is scheduled to begin the week of July 15 and be completed by the end of August.
According to City of Coldwater officials, construction sites are busy places with lots of moving equipment, open trenches, and deliveries of materials. They are urging vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, and neighbors to avoid accessing the active work zones and closed areas during work hours.
The $514,700 project is part of the city’s 2019-2020 fiscal year budget and will be funded through the city’s capital improvement fund and Act 51 street funds.
Thompson Boulevard will be completed between Pillsbury Avenue and Michael Drive. The city recently bought eight lots from the Branch Intermediate School District and seven from Jim Weiss along Thompson Boulevard in order to encourage and provide additional housing in the community.
The Parrish bid was the lowest of two bids received by the city.
