COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The far southern part of Branch County was included in a Flash Flood Warning Sunday morning after heavy rain fell on parts of the area.
National Weather Service observers report over three inches of rain fell near Crooked Lake in Steuben County. In addition, rapidly rising water and flooding to a restaurant and nearby home was reported at Lake James. Upwards of three to four inches of rain had fallen in some areas from northern Steuben through northern Williams Counties.
There was high water on Bayview Road near the Four Corners for the second time this year. The road was blocked off but that didn’t stop some from trying to drive through the high water, much to the chagrin on nearby property owners.
There were also reports of one to two inches of rain on Saturday in St. Joseph County.
For the most part, Coldwater escaped the heavy rain that plagued other parts of the area. The Michigan State University Extension Service weather gauge at the Bloom Dairy Farm measured .45 inch of rain for Saturday.
