COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of the fastest growing sports in the area also turned out to be a big fundraiser this past weekend.
The Second Annual Tommy’s House Pickleball Tournament was held at the pickleball courts at Parkhurst Park in Coldwater this past Saturday. Over $6,000 was locally raised to benefit Tommy’s House, a transition home for women who have been released from jail.
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis.
The tournament had over 50 teams. The winning teams:
Men’s Doubles:
1st Place Joe Hayes and Rick Roper
2nd Place Dennis Juergens and Russ Wood
3rd Place Joe Lopez and Rick Casey
Women’s Doubles:
1st Place Madeline Zinn and Vicki Kibiloski
2nd Place Judie Miller and Geri Rupp
3rd Place Kathy Hayes and Connie Howard
Mixed Doubles
1st Place Madeline Zinn and Rick Casey
2nd Place Kathy Hayes and Joe Hayes
3rd Place Vicki Kibiloski and Lynn Kibiloski
The annual jar of pickles went to the last place teams of Craig Kilgore and Terry Linton, Maggie Beckwith and Ruth Young, and Becky Murfin and Craig Kilgore.
