ORLAND, IN (WTVB) – An Orland, Indiana man was killed Monday evening in a Steuben County accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
The Indiana State Police report the crash happened at about 6:55 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 120 and County Road 300 West.
According to their preliminary investigation, a pickup driven by 30-year-old Wesley Teller of Bronson came to a stop at the posted stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection and into the path of the motorcycle operated by 62-year-old Larry Wateska.
Wateska steered his motorcycle to the north but was unable to avoid colliding with the front of the pickup.
Wateska was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Steuben County Coroner Bill Harter.
Troopers say Wateska was wearing a helmet. Teller was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
At this time, drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.
