COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An event that celebrates women in Branch County will take place Friday, March 22, as the annual Branch County United Way “Power of the Purse” which will be held once again at the Dearth Community Center.
The popular event has both a luncheon and a dinner. Tickets for dinner are sold out, but at last report there were still some tickets available for the luncheon.
Sorry guys, no men allowed. It’s only for females.
Two local women will be honored during the luncheon as Service Woman and Business Woman of the Year.
Numerous local businesses donated purses for the raffles with each purse containing items valued at over $150.
Last year’s event raised almost $40,000. The proceeds from Power of the Purse go to the Branch County United Way’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides early literacy services for over 800 children.
