STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A major railroad reconstruction project on U.S. 12 in Sturgis will force drivers to use alternate routes for a couple of months.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin the reconstruction of U.S. 12 at the Michigan Southern Railroad Crossing April 22, 2019, which will force the closing of the highway to through traffic east of Jacob Street and west of North Clay Street.
The actual closure time will be dependent on weather conditions and construction progress.
Detours will be set up but the affected portion of U.S. 12 will be open to local business traffic during the project.
