BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman said in his yearly report during the Bronson City Council meeting Monday night that the city made significant progress last year in addressing infrastructure, facility improvements and equipment upgrades.
Bronson was awarded a Stormwater, Asset Management & Wastewater Grant in 2018 from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality which will evaluate its current systems and determine a schedule for improvements to its infrastructure.
Mersman added the City completed a number of improvements to the Downtown area. He also felt they made significant progress during the first year of their engagement in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Redevelopment Ready Communities Program.
The adoption of a Capital Improvement Plan also means the City will now be eligible for Infrastructure Capacity Enhancement Grants which are offered by the Michigan EDC.
Mersman pointed out the City Council’s adoption of a rental housing ordinance, which he says will help to ensure rental properties in Bronson are safe and well maintained.
