UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The pieces for the Village of Union City’s new water tower at the corner of Dirks Drive and Goodwin Drive have been arriving in recent days.
A new 150,000 gallon tower will be built this year to replace Union City’s 75,000 gallon tower that was built in 1923.
The old water tank, which was said to be aging and undersized for the Village, is scheduled to come down in 2020.
The Village consumes nearly 110,000 gallons of water a day. The construction work is being done by Phoenix Fabricators.
Parrish Excavating was subcontracted to work on the foundation.
United State Department of Agricultural Rural Development assisted the Village with funding for the project.
