COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a contract agreement with the Michigan Department of Transportation on Monday night for the road improvement project on South Jefferson Street between U.S. 12 and East Park Avenue.
The Federal Highway Administration will be providing $375,000 for the project.
Local funds totaling $728,000 for the work are included in the 2019-2020 Capital Improvement Budget.
City Manager Keith Baker said the Jefferson Street project will be similar to the recent projects on Grand and Church Streets.
He added depending on the contractor schedule, the work is scheduled to be performed between the Car Show in May and the Branch County Fair in August.
Local Act 51 Major Streets fund have been allocated for a fifty percent construction match estimated at $383,500 for Part A which will cover street, sidewalk, curb, gutter and storm sewer work with an allocation of $355,300 for Part B which will cover the Coldwater B.P.U. water and sanitary sewer part of the project.
