PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – It turned out to be a very busy Friday night and early Saturday morning for Calhoun County law enforcement officers. Beside the crash on I-94, they had to handle a violent domestic incident.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports police killed an intoxicated 46-year-old Pennfield Township man after authorities say he shot two of his sons and threatened to kill his wife. Police say the man was armed with a shotgun when he fired at three officers when they found him hiding in a bedroom. Police then returned fire and killed the man.
The incident happened at about 4:00 a.m. on Saturday. Calhoun County Sheriff Matt Saxton told the Enquirer that the youngsters who were shot were taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo with non-life threatening injuries. No police officers were injured.
