STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – Sturgis High School students were sent home late Friday morning due to what was being called an isolated gas leak at the High School.
Sturgis Fire and Michigan Gas Utilities recommended to school officials as a precaution that the building be evacuated.
School officials then decided to dismiss students for the day.
All other school buildings in the Sturgis school district remained in session.
Because of the evacuation, tonight’s Division One girls basketball district title game between Coldwater and Battle Creek Central scheduled at Sturgis High School has been moved to the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse at 7:00 p.m.
