MATTHEWS, NC (WTVB) – Family Dollar will be closing nearly 400 stores over the next several months around the country.
There is no word yet if the Coldwater store at Marshall and State Streets will be among them. That decision is expected to be made over the next several weeks. There is also a Family Dollar store at 316 N. Broadway Street in Union City. The Family Dollar location in Bronson closed in 2016.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the chain, which is based in Matthews, North Carolina, will close underperforming stores and cut prices on nearly 1,000 basic items.
Family Dollar has nearly 8,100 stores nationwide. Company officials are partly blaming the tough winter weather for its financial performance.
