HOLT, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys basketball team saw its season come to end on Tuesday as they were eliminated for the second straight year by the Okemos Chieftains 44-33 in the Division One regional semifinals in Holt.
Gage McGuire closed his Coldwater career by scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Dylan Targgart had seven rebounds.
Okemos opened a 12-4 lead after the first quarter which the Cardinals to play catch up for the rest of the game. Coldwater finished with a record of 17-6.
Okemos will face DeWitt for the regional title after DeWitt knocked off previously undefeated Mattawan 51-38.
Division Three at Watervliet
Union City’s season ended on Tuesday night as well as they were beaten by Cassopolis 59-29 in the Division Three regional semifinals at Watervliet. The Rangers took control of the game with a 16 point run in the first quarter. Larson Kever led the Chargers with 16 points.
After winning their first boys basketball district championship in 17 years, the Chargers finished 16-8.
Cassopolis will face Schoolcraft for the regional title after the Eagles defeated Niles Brandywine 42-33.
