DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – Ten Branch County wrestlers will be competing this weekend at the M.H.S.A.A. Individual Wrestling Finals at Ford Field.
Among them are Division Four regional champions Ben Modert of Bronson and Brayton Mears of Union City. Modert will be trying to defend his 112 pound state championship while Mears won the regional title at 103 pounds.
Modert is one of six Bronson wrestlers who will be competing in the Motor City. The others are Alex Tyer (285), Ruger Ranney (171), Issac Tappenden (152), Justin Blankenship (189) and Preston Wronikowski (103).
Union City’s Brayton Burgett (285) and Quincy’s Gerl Pish (140) also qualified for the Division Four state finals.
Coldwater’s Griffin Olmstead (171) will be competing in the Division Two finals.
