COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch Intermediate School District Superintendent Kris Jenkins told the district’s Board of Education Wednesday that they received word last week that the BISD early middle college application has been approved by the state after a long wait.
An Early Middle College School allows a student to earn a high school diploma and either an associate’s degree, a technical certification or up to 60 transferable college credits.
They can start the five year program as early as the ninth or tenth grade.
Jenkins said it was a struggle with the Office of Career and Technical Education because of what she called their unique model.
Other local districts were on board with the application and Jenkins said they hope to include Bronson in the future.
