COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a resolution Monday night that authorizes the execution of an agreement between the city and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority for grant funding to build a modular single family home.
The home would be on one of the lots that was recently purchased from the Branch Intermediate School District and Jim Weiss along the proposed extension of Thompson Blvd.
MSHDA is offering the pilot grant program that would provide the financing and construction of two new single family residential modular homes in Coldwater.
Families have to be at or below 120 percent of the Area Median Income to be eligible for the MSHDA program.
City officials say there is a critical need in the city to provide additional new affordable single family housing to address a current housing shortage that is primarily related to local job growth.
