COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After a winter that has seen a number of school cancellations because of ice, snow, and even dangerously cold weather, the State of Michigan is giving school districts relief from making up some of those missed days.
Coldwatr Community Schools Superintendent Terry Boguth announced at Monday’s Board of Education meeting that she just received confirmation from the state that schools can apply for a three day waiver on the amount of snow days the district can use. A three day waiver would allow Coldwater to have nine snow days for this school year.
If the district goes above nine snow days, then they would have to tack days onto the calendar at the end of the school year. With the closing Tuesday due to icy roads, Coldwater has used eight snow days so far in the 2018-2019 school year.
