COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School Gymnastics team will be trying to stick it to cancer on Saturday.
They will be hosting their ninth annual “Stick It for a Cure” benefit meet to raise awareness and funding to support cancer patients and survivors in Branch County.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the ProMedica Coldwater Cancer Center.
Last year’s event, which raised more than $10,000, provided medication assistance for the ProMedica Coldwater Cancer Center.
In the last decade, the team has raised more than $75,000 to benefit local patients.
Other projects include adding a sound system to the cancer center, funding mammograms for patients who could not afford it, and purchasing several iPads that are available for patients to use during treatment.
The goal for this years event is $10,000. The money raised will be used to buy comfort items for patients undergoing treatment.
Team members have secured sponsorships and auction items over the last several weeks.
The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m.. The Silent Auction closes at 2:00 p.m. with the item drawing at 2:30 p.m..
