QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The weather this winter has been crazy but the 57th Annual Quincy Chain of Lakes Tip Up Festival will still be held Saturday on Tip Up Island.
The festival is always held during the second weekend in February and has become a Branch County tradition dating back to the early 1960’s.
The weather for Tip Up is sort of like that box of chocolates Forrest Gump had, you never know what your going to get. Nearly a foot of snow fell last year on the day before the festival which provided a perfect setting for all of the activities.
But there maybe some tweaks to the schedule following this weeks rain and warm temperatures.
One of the big highlights will be the 37TH annual Polar Bear Splash at 12 noon.
Fishing contests, kids games, and wood cutting contests will be held throughout the day.
The Fisherman’s Ball will run from 8:00 p.m. until midnight in the newly renovated pavilion. Tickets are $10. You must 21 to attend and it’s BYOB. Krazy Katz will be providing the music.
Quincy High School sophomore Haley Schley is this years Tip-Up Queen. The Tip-Up Mayor for 2019 is Tom Lothamer while the Tip-Up Sheriff will be John Lothamer.
