COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Maybe the only good thing about this brutally cold weather is that the City of Coldwater escaped setting an all time record low temperature overnight, even though the forecast called for lows around 20 degrees below zero.
The all time low of 23 degrees below zero which was set on January fourth, 1981 is still safe.
But record lows for January 30 and 31 have been set at the Branch County Memorial Airport.
The previous record low of eleven below for January 31 was shattered overnight as the mercury dipped to 18 degrees below zero.
A new record low for January 30 was set early Wednesday night at the Branch County Memorial Airport when the temperature hit 14 degrees below zero.
The coldest wind chill recorded at the airport Wednesday was 40 degrees below zero.
