COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Office recently set up a fund with the Branch County Community Foundation which will accept funds designated to the support of the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff John Pollack said the idea came at the request of the Larry Burch family. Burch was a long time deputy with the Sheriff’s Department and one of its first rescue divers.
The family wanted to donate their memorial funds directly to the dive team in their father’s name.
After checking with other Sheriff’s Department in Michigan on how citizen support organizations were set up, Pollack then reached out to the Community Foundation to see if they manage such a fund.
After several meetings, the Supporters of the Branch County Sheriff’s Office (SBCSO) was organized.
Contributions can be made through memorial donations or just donated to the Supporter fund. They can also be made on line by going to the Community Foundation’s website at BrCoFoundation.org.
