COLDWATER, MI. (WTVB) – For the first time since April 9, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency has reported a COVID-19 death involving a Branch County resident who tested positive for the virus.
The latest death which was reported on Friday was the third one from Branch County. The C.H.A. also reported another death in St. Joseph County which brought that county’s death rate up to 11 of people who tested positive for COVID-19.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns said both of the people who passed away were “older residents.” Further information is not being released under the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.
There have been 39 COVID-19 related deaths in the jurisdiction including 25 in Hillsdale County.
No new cases were reported in Branch County on Friday which left the number of cases at 362. Three new cases were reported in Hillsdale County which brought the number of cases in that county up to 266.
St. Joseph County has had the most cases of the three counties with 565 including five new cases reported on Friday.
The Calhoun County Public Health Department has reported 757 cases and 42 deaths.
