COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A public comment period is underway and a virtual public hearing has been tentatively scheduled for September 17 on Real Alloy’s plans to modify its secondary aluminum processing facilities on West Garfield and North Filmore.
The public comment period will run until September 28.
Real Alloy submitted a Permit to Install application to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy this past January as part of the process for the modifications.
The company is also proposing to increase their allowed hourly particulate matter (PM) emission rate for one reverberatory melting furnace.
Real Alloy recycles different types of scrap aluminum and converts it to usable metal that is returned to customers or sold.
