COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man from Kendallville, Indiana was arraigned on four counts of receiving and concealing stolen motor vehicles on Friday in Branch County District Court following a Michigan State Police investigation.
21-year-old Justin Jay Easterday was ordered held on a $100,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing on June 30 with a preliminary exam on July 7.
Court documents indicate he was allegedly involved with several others in a stolen vehicle ring last year.
Numerous stolen vehicles were reported last summer in Branch and Hillsdale Counties as well as in northeast Indiana.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department reported a series of vehicle break-ins as well as five stolen vehicles from Bronson, Matteson and Sherwood Townships during the first weekend of July 2019. There were 35 complaints of stolen vehicles in Steuben County alone between June and October.
The Michigan State Police were assisted in their investigation by Sheriff’s Departments in Branch, Steuben and LaGrange Counties.
