QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Transfer Station will be shut down in the near future once Republic Waste Services gets a similar facility in Coldwater up and running.
The Quincy Village Council approved a request from Village Manager Brittany Butler on Tuesday night to close the transfer station because it has only generated about $3,000 in revenue for the village over the last couple of years.
She said that is not enough money to cover their costs.
With the closing of the transfer station on Ridge Road, the village plans to sell the 37 acres of land by putting it out for bids.
Butler said the property which includes a capped landfill has an assessed value of over $142,000.
She felt a minimum bid should be set in the Request for Proposals that will be sent out to potential buyers.
The matter is expected to come back before the Village Council next month.
