UNION TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – While there were no county wide issues to be decided on Tuesday, voters in Union Township approved the renewal of one mill for four years for the maintenance and operation of the township cemetery and for fire protection.
Just over $70,000 will be raised in the first year the millage is levied. The unofficial tally was 180 yes and 33 no.
Funding questions were also on the ballot in neighboring counties.
Voters in the City of Albion approved a recreation millage proposal 377-154.
Leroy Township voters in Calhoun County approved a fire protection services and public works ballot proposal 447-259.
Voters in the Battle Creek Public School District narrowly defeated a $44 million bond issue by just 38 votes, 975-937.
Battle Creek Lakeview School District voters approved a $47 million school improvement bonding issue 1,640 to 965.
Voters in the Village of Constantine turned down a proposal that would have banned marijuana in the village by an almost 5-1 margin which means the lone dispensary in Constantine will keep operating with others expected to open in the future.
