HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – Hillsdale Hospital announced Tuesday that one of its employees has tested positive for COVID-19, the first employee confirmed with the virus.
According to a hospital news release, the employee did not work in direct patient care and has been isolatng for eight days. The self-isolation started when the employee first experienced symptons.
The patients in the area of the hospital where the employee worked were notified immediately along with their families of the positive result.
Hospital infection control officer Randy Holland said the staff is following all appropriate protocols to protect themselves and the hospital patients.
Holland adds the employee has been off work for over a week and has indicated that their symptons have reached the point of resolution.
To limit further exposure, the hospital is working to identify all those in direct extended contact and will have those people begin to self monitor.
