COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack has officially filed his nominating petition at the County Clerks office to get on the August Republican Primary ballot.
Pollack will be running against Johnny Lopez in August after defeating him for the Sheriff’s Office in 2012 when Lopez ran as a Democrat.
Pollack’s law enforcement career includes thirty-three years with the Branch County Sheriff’s Office.
Before he was Sheriff, Pollack served as Undersheriff, road patrol sergeant, road patrol deputy, civil service deputy, and Marine Patrol supervisor.
While at the Sheriff’s Office, he also served as an EMT, dispatcher, corrections deputy, and captain of the dive rescue team.
Pollack says along with the continued efforts to return to 24 hour coverage, there are “several major projects facing the Sheriff’s Office in the next few years…that require a Sheriff with the leadership and experience to guide the Sheriff’ Office through these challenges.”
