HASTINGS, MI (WTVB) – The second round of Interstate 8 Conference play begins Friday night and both of the Coldwater High School basketball teams teams will be at Hastings.
The Coldwater boys are 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the conference which leaves them in a three way tie for first place with Pennfield and Parma Western.
The Coldwater girls are 4-3 in the conference and are two games back of Jackson Northwest, Parma Western and Harper Creek who are tied for first place with 6-1 records.

In other girls/boys varsity doubleheaders Friday night involving Branch County teams, Quincy will host Reading, Union City will be at Springport while Bronson plays at Concord.
The boys game between Quincy and Reading involves two of the three teams tied for first place in the Big 8 Conference. The Rangers, Orioles and Homer are all at 5-1 in conference play.
The Tekonsha boys game with North Adams-Jerome for Friday night has been called off because of the number of illnesses in the Tekonsha School District. It has been rescheduled for March third. The Tekonsha girls game with North Adams-Jerome that was called off Thursday night was rescheduled for February 19th.

Aaron May led Coldwater with 17 points while Lu LeBron added 15 points and Jett Galloway had 12 points

Also in basketball, St. Charles Borremeo defeated Trinity Lutheran of Sturgis Thursday night 41-16. Leading St. Charles in scoring and rebounding was Josie Mescher, she finished the night with 9 points. She was followed by Alex Richards with 8 points.
The Cougars are 3-1 on the season with their next game on Thursday February 6th at the Coldwater Rec.Center.
